OVERVIEW

V.A. is a concept store on Omotesando in Tokyo, run by JUN Co., Ltd. The name is short for "Various Artists", and the store puts fashion, a café and a bakery under one roof. It opened in December 2024, and the online store followed as the brand's official ecommerce channel.

V.A. runs on Shopify Plus. The team set up Qikify Checkout Customizer on the online store, so orders come through a customized checkout rather than the default one.

CHALLENGE

Three things V.A. needed at checkout were not available in Shopify's default setup.

  • Addresses that arrived incomplete: Orders went through with address details missing or malformed. Nobody caught it until the package was ready to ship, so fixing it fell to the fulfillment team.
  • Nowhere to put a membership number: Nothing at checkout captured a customer's member number, so the team could not credit points for an online order.
  • Payment options locked as-is: The team could not choose which payment methods appeared, in what order, or under what name.

SOLUTION

All three run inside Qikify Checkout Customizer, so V.A. did not have to add a separate app for each one.

  • Address validation rules: Checkout checks the address before it lets the order through, so the customer corrects a bad entry while still on the page.
  • Custom membership number field: An extra field collects the member number at purchase and sends it through with the order, so the team knows which account to credit.
  • Payment method customization: V.A. controls which payment options appear, in what order, and what each one is called.

RESULTS

  • Address errors fixed at the source: Correcting an address is now part of checkout instead of a job for the fulfillment team.
  • Loyalty joined up with online orders: Member numbers arrive attached to the order, so online purchases earn points the same way in-store ones do.
  • One app to maintain: Three checkout requirements, configured in one place.
