At Qikify, we are constantly listening to your feedback to refine our tools and help you maximize your store's conversion rate. This month, we are excited to announce two major updates to the Qikify Upsell & Cross‑sell app:

  • High-converting Amazon-style layout for Frequently Bought Together.
  • Smarter validation system for Free Gift offers.

Let’s dive into what’s new!

1. Amazon-style layout for Frequently Bought Together (FBT)

We’ve brought the world’s most recognizable bundle interface directly to your Shopify store. Our latest update introduces the Amazon-style layout for the Frequently Bought Together widget—designed to minimize friction and maximize your Average Order Value (AOV).

Why the Amazon layout?

Customers are already familiar with this interface. By presenting products side-by-side with a clear "Add bundle to cart" button, you reduce friction and encourage customers to buy more in a single click.

What’s new:

  • Horizontal bundle display: Products are linked with iconic "plus" icons, visually signaling a complete set.
  • Real-time price updates: When customers toggle checkboxes or change variants (size/color), the total price updates instantly.
  • Informational quick view: Instead of leaving the product page, customers can click an image or name to open a sleek modal for more details, images, and feature lists.
  • Streamlined CTA: A single, prominent button to add the entire bundle to the cart.

How to enable it:

Go to Style & display > Display settings > Frequently bought together. Select Embedded as the Display Type, and choose the new Amazon layout.

2. Enhanced accuracy for "Free Gift" with automatic discounts

We’ve heard from merchants about a common Shopify platform limitation: automatic discounts (like "Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off") are only applied at the cart level, while upsell apps usually calculate eligibility on the product page.

This often led to a "False Qualification" where a customer thought they reached a $100 threshold, but after a 50% discount was applied in the cart, their total dropped to $50—yet they still kept the free gift.

The solution: Smart cart validation

To protect your margins and ensure a fair customer experience, we have implemented a Post-Add Validation system:

  • Real-time subtotal check: Immediately after a product and gift are added to the cart, our app communicates with Shopify to verify the actual subtotal after all automatic discounts.
  • Automatic correction: If the discounted total falls below your required threshold, the app will automatically remove the free gift.
  • Transparent messaging: Instead of leaving the customer confused, a clear notification will appear:
"Your order total after discounts didn't reach $[threshold amount]. The free gift has been removed. Add more items to qualify."

This ensures that your Free Gift promotions remain profitable and your inventory is protected from unintended giveaways.
