Shopify shipped 150+ updates on June 17, 2026, and almost all the momentum went around agentic commerce. Shopify has been working hard to help all eCommerce store owners that using their platform can do the "agentic commerce" on the most convenience way with many supporting tools, integrations with Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, and more.

Let's take a look on what's new in the latest Shopify Spring 2026 Edition.

2. Agentic commerce: the headline of the Edition

This is where Shopify spent the release. Here's the full agentic lineup that shipped:

  • Products optimized for AI, automatically. Shopify gets your products into AI channels for you. Your admin now shows how you're performing, tracks sales by channel, and flags what's missing to drive conversion.
  • Checkout on more surfaces. Shopping is live in Copilot now, with Meta ads next, and customers pay with Shop Pay right in the chat.
  • Image search. Agents can pass a photo straight to Shopify and return visually similar products.
  • Richer listings. Agents can show your media, variants, availability, and offers from multiple sellers, not just a name and price.
  • New ways to shop. Shopify's demos show agents that plan a trip, suggest board games, pull inspiration from a show, find photo lookalikes, or shop your star sign.
  • An Agentic plan. Businesses not on Shopify can sync products into Catalog and sell across AI channels and the Shop app.
  • For developers: Catalog, Cart, and Checkout MCPs for full discovery-to-purchase builds, a product lookup API (real-time pricing and availability for up to 50 products per request), Shop sign-in in Catalog API experiences, and sponsored products to earn on agentic sales (developer preview).

Two pieces sit under all of it: Shopify Catalog and the Universal Commerce Protocol.

Shopify Catalog automatically standardizes and enriches your product data so AI agents can read it properly. Think of it as translating your catalog into a language AI assistants understand. The better your data, the better Catalog can describe you to a shopper who's asking. Shopify says its syndicated product data drives 2x more conversion in AI chats (a Shopify figure, so take it as direction, not a promise).

The Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) is the open protocol that powers the buying. Catalog gets your product mentioned. UCP is what lets a shopper complete the purchase inside the chat instead of clicking out to your site.

What this means for you: You don't set any of this up. It's on by default. Your only job is the product data Catalog feeds on, so clean titles, full detail fields, and accurate stock are now what decide whether an AI recommends you. Start with your best sellers.

3. Run your store with AI

There are two ways to manage your store with AI now: through the chat tools you already use, and through Sidekick, Shopify's built-in assistant.

3.1. From Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI tools

You can now add products, create collections, and manage orders from inside Claude, ChatGPT, or Perplexity, doing the work through conversation instead of clicking through the admin. Building from scratch got the same treatment: describe your business to vibe-coding partners like Manus, Replit, V0, or Lovable, and they'll spin up a store for you.

And if you or your developer write code, the Shopify AI Toolkit brings commerce skills to agents like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes, and VS Code, so you can build and manage storefronts, apps, and themes from there.

3.2. Sidekick is now everywhere

Sidekick, Shopify's built-in assistant, grew up this release:

  • On every screen. Type or talk with Sidekick on any screen of the Shopify app, and edit your store from your phone in context.
  • On Apple Watch. Ask Sidekick to look up information about your business from your wrist.
  • Works with your apps. Through App Extensions, Sidekick can answer questions and take action inside partner apps, starting with Judge.me, Klaviyo, Loop, Smile, and more.
  • Proactive guidance. Every admin session opens with tips to attract customers, improve conversion, and drive repeat sales.
  • Follow-up questions. When it needs more detail, Sidekick offers multiple-choice answers so you can clarify the task fast.
  • Multi-tasking. It keeps working in the background across multiple chats, even after you close the window.
  • Creates customers. Describe a customer in plain language and Sidekick fills out the form for you.
  • Builds and edits apps. Edit code, preview on desktop and mobile, and track version history in Sidekick's app editor.
  • Tests your automations. Generate test events for Shopify Flow with Sidekick and verify your logic works.

4. Your online store

The online store bucket got the most individual updates. The ones worth your attention, grouped by what you'd actually touch (B2B has its own section below).

4.1. Storefront and editing

Storefront search now handles typos and unusual phrasing, so shoppers still land on the right products. A new AI sales associate in Shopify Inbox answers buyer questions and recommends products, tailored to shoppers signed in with Shop.

Editing got easier on both ends, too: the Shopify app has phone-built controls with an on-screen preview and Sidekick included, and on laptops the theme and checkout editors now show your sections and settings side by side.

4.2. Test before you launch

  • SimGym runs AI-simulated shoppers against a theme and surfaces friction points before real customers hit them.
  • Shopify Rollouts brings native A/B testing and scheduled publishing to your theme, checkout, and customer accounts, including localized themes across markets.

Simulate, A/B test the winner, then publish. No more shipping big changes blind.

4.3. Selling across markets

  • Visualized markets graph to see discounts, products, and settings for each market in one view.
  • Sales channel control in markets: Customize product availability, pricing, and currency per sales channel.
  • Product compliance disclosure: add mandatory product warnings that display on your store, in AI channels, and the Shop app.

4.4. Products, pricing, and discounts

  • Variant-level publishing by channel and per market, no workarounds.
  • Stack multiple product discounts on one order, like a percentage off plus a fixed amount. See how to combine discounts on Shopify to set rules that don't clash.
  • Shopify Smart Pricing app: product-level pricing tips based on your sales, inventory, costs, and seasonality.

4.5. Customer accounts

  • Refreshed account pages with cleaner navigation, branded sign-in, and recommendations for first-time shoppers.
  • 365-day sign-in sessions so customers stay signed in for a full year.
  • Identity provider sync for profile fields and tags from Auth0, Ping Identity, and Azure ID.

If you use Shopify Collective, it also adds sourcing insights, automatic tax-inclusive B2B pricing, faster product discovery, shipping trust badges, and availability in Australia.

5. The Shop app

Shop, Shopify's consumer shopping app, leaned hard into AI and discovery.

The headline: search is now conversational, so shoppers discover, compare, and research products through a back-and-forth that's shaped by their taste and history and gets smarter over time.

A few more worth knowing if Shop is a channel for you:

  • Shop skill for AI agents. Shoppers using OpenClaw, Hermes, and other agents can discover products across Shopify and approve purchases through Shop.
  • Online to in person. Connect local Shop shoppers to your retail store, with discovery, in-store pickup, and easy returns.
  • Blocks in Shop Editor. Customize your product pages in Shop with slideshows, collections, videos, and other media.
  • Demand signals. Product pages now show whether an item is trending and flag when stock is low.
  • Posts and Shop Minis. Reach active shoppers with posts in their feeds, and surface your Shop Minis across the home feed, navigation, and product pages.

6. Native B2B expanded. What it covers, and what it doesn't

If you sell wholesale, read this one closely. We recently posted updates about this change in Shopify B2B plan as well. What's new natively, at no extra cost:

  • Company profiles, volume pricing, and up to three B2B catalogs from your admin.
  • QuickBooks and Mailchimp now support B2B: sync orders, PO numbers, and company details, and build B2B segments for email.
  • Automated vaulted payments charge B2B customers based on fulfillment, due dates, or invoicing.
  • Discounts by market for region-specific B2B offers.

Native B2B handles pricing, catalogs, and back-office sync well. It still doesn't give wholesale buyers a true self-service portal, where they log in, reorder, and manage their account on their own terms. If that's what your buyers need, Duos B2B Self-Service fills the gap on top of Shopify.

7. Checkout, payments, and finance

Checkout. The checkout itself was redesigned for conversion, with cleaner delivery options, a bigger pay button, and less scrolling on mobile. A few controls came with it: set your logo, colors, and fonts once and apply them across checkout, accounts, and sign-in; set order value limits; let customers ship some items and pick up others in one order; and rely on faster address autocomplete plus VAT ID validation in the EU and UK.

If you need more than the native controls, Qikify Checkout Customizer gives Shopify Plus stores deeper checkout customization without code.

Payments. The conversion levers are the big ones here.

  • Shop Pay is now available to any business on any platform, with simplified onboarding.
  • Managed payment methods auto-order the options most likely to convert in each checkout.
  • Stronger chargeback tools: deeper dispute insights, plus chargeback health monitoring with proactive alerts.
  • Better fraud prevention that scores transactions to block card-testing attacks.
  • Quick Sale in the Shopify app now handles tips, change for cash, shipping, and payment links, and works in more markets.

Finance. A few back-office wins, mostly regional: earn cashback on Meta and Google ad spend paid from Shopify Balance (US), auto-calculate Canadian sales tax now that Shopify Tax covers Canada, and access Shopify Capital funding now that it's available in France.

8. Marketing updates

Marketing got a heavy AI push this release, mostly around running campaigns across channels from one place.

8.1. Campaigns and ads

  • Campaign Autopilot runs AI marketing across channels that learns, optimizes, and tracks results over time, within guardrails you set.
Campaign autopilot

Campaign Autopilot allows running campaigns across channels with AI-powered marketing

  • Shop Campaigns on more channels: run one campaign across ChatGPT, Pinterest, and programmatic ads via Microsoft Monetize.
  • Simplified setup and bidding: set custom bids for segments like new or lapsed customers, then run one campaign across channels.
  • Standardized ads billing: Shop Campaigns charges now appear on your Shopify invoice, with centralized reporting in the admin.
  • Fixed bundles on Google and Meta: publish pre-configured bundles across Google search and ads, YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram.

8.2. Messaging: WhatsApp, SMS, and email

  • WhatsApp is now a native marketing channel you create and manage in Shopify Messaging.
  • SMS automations join the marketing automations in Shopify Messaging.
  • Smart email delivery prioritizes which messages to send and which to hold back, optimizing for conversion.

8.3. Tracking and consent

  • Marketing data in analytics: see spend, ROAS, impressions, and sessions alongside sales.
  • Discount links attributed to campaigns for accurate traffic and conversion tracking.
  • Consent capture: collect email opt-ins on your sign-in page, and manage WhatsApp consent in each customer's profile alongside email and SMS.

9. Retail and POS updates

If you sell in person, Shopify POS got its biggest refresh in a while.

9.1. A faster POS (v11)

Shopify calls it its fastest-ever POS. The cart is always present, so checking out, adding products, and creating customers each save time and the line keeps moving. Search is quicker across products, customers, and orders, there are new keyboard shortcuts, and the smart grid editor now lets you swap assigned products and update tiles in a refreshed layout.

Shopify POS has been updated to v11

9.2. New ways to sell and discount in store

  • Scannable discounts: generate QR codes in the admin and scan them at checkout to apply discounts in store.
  • In-store only discounts that apply in person, kept separate from online promotions.
  • Returns, exchanges, and new sales in one cart with smart grid actions.
  • In-person pickup orders at any location, with customer notifications (POS Pro).
  • Offline checkout that staff can enable per device to keep selling when connectivity drops.

9.3. Hardware, control, and scale

Verifone Victa Mobile is a new handheld that scans barcodes, takes payments, and runs Shopify POS, doubling as a terminal when docked (pre-order in the US and Canada). Behind the counter, you also get customer-data permissions to control who sees personal details, full cash visibility and audit trails (POS Pro), and transfer receiving with packing slips. And on Shopify Plus, you can run multiple retail locations in one country under different legal entities from a single store, with Tap to Pay and offline payments across the setup.

10. Inventory, fulfillment, and shipping

Operational updates that keep orders moving. The ones most stores will feel:

10.1. Inventory

  • Enhanced inventory management: make purchasing decisions with Sidekick, scan barcodes to receive shipments, keep counts accurate across channels, and turn returns into data.
  • Smarter purchase orders: Sidekick can generate POs, which now automatically create transfers.
  • Faster inventory syncing so back-in-stock updates reach your store quickly during high-traffic events.
  • Order cancellation requests: customers can cancel before fulfillment or return after, right from the order status page.

10.2. Fulfillment and shipping

  • Batch fulfillment: group orders and run them through a custom pick, pack, scan, and ship workflow.
  • Advanced shipping options: combine order value and weight conditions in one option, with customer-facing descriptions and transit times.
  • Carrier auto-detection for manual tracking numbers, covering DHL, EVRi, Australia Post, and more.
  • UPS return labels you only pay for when they're used (US), plus shipping labels billed in your local currency.

10.3. Selling internationally

Managed Markets is now available in the UK and Canada, with duties, taxes, and compliance handled and faster setup. You can also enable localized international pricing that bakes in duties, taxes, and fees, and sell and redeem gift cards in your customers' local currencies from one store.

11. Analytics, operations, and your action checklist

A few behind-the-scenes updates worth knowing. The ones that matter most:

Analytics. Daily insights surface the most important trends in your overview automatically, chart annotations mark why a metric moved (a theme deploy, an app install, a product change), you can set metric targets and track them visually, and there are new chart types, including scatter, bubble, and sunburst.

Admin and operations. One search bar now searches, filters, and saves views across the admin. App activity visibility shows what your apps do, where they run, and what data they access. Staff payments permissions let you delegate payouts and disputes with granular control. And Shopify Flow got smarter, with automatic shipping-label purchasing, version history, and workflow notes.

Conclusion

So where do you start? Don't act on all 150. Clean your product data first, since it's low-effort and powers the agentic channel that this whole release is built around. Then try one AI workflow, build a testing habit with SimGym and Rollouts, and work through B2B, checkout, and marketing based on what your store actually needs.
